Counselling offers a safe and confidential space, where together with the support of a counsellor you can explore a range of issues that are currently affecting your wellbeing. Many people begin counselling when they meet problems and issues in their lives that are difficult to navigate on their own. Some may wish to change something in their life, develop better self-awareness or improve their confidence. Counselling is a safe space which allows a person to explore thoughts and feelings in more depth and to face the difficult emotions and experiences that life can bring.

Counselling can mean different things to different people and in different contexts.
In general, it is an opportunity for people to talk through their problems and any difficult feelings in a safe, gentle and confidential space.
Counselling works by providing a confidential space to enable focused listening and talking, thus enabling a person to come to terms with, and sometimes re-evaluate, their own thoughts and emotions.
By working with a Counsellor over an agreed contract in a safe therapeutic framework, people often find it possible to address emotional stresses past and present and to explore thoughts and feelings.
A Counsellor will not give you answers or tell you what to do, instead they will help you explore your issues with you as the “expert in you and your emotions”. It is a journey where you will be encouraged to talk about what's bothering you or hurting. A place where you can safely and confidentially explore the roots of these feelings and your reaction to them, thus enabling you to re-think and resolve emotionally painful processes. Thinking and working together with the Counsellor to move forward with greater strength and understanding and creating the changes in your life, relationships and your future self.
The counselling room is a relaxed and non-judgemental space where confidential exploration of your emotions, feelings, challenges and stresses can take place. The Counsellor offers a therapeutic environment and expertise to enable you to work through and address past and present emotional stresses or traumas and explore your thoughts and feelings about them. Each session for individual counselling is 50 minutes long and is part of a series of sessions agreed on with yourself during the initial conversation.
Throughout the process the Counsellor will review the contract length with you to meet your needs and ensure progress is being made.
